SUMMARY:NEW! Settler's Park\, Grapevine\, (formerly Silverlake) with Jim Sipiora
DESCRIPTION:Go exploring with Jim Sipiora at a new park in east Grapevine near Grapevine Lake. The city has not officially listed this park on their website yet. But folks on eBird have been there several times and listed it as a Hotspot. If you use the address listed on Google maps you will see directions on how to get to the park. \nJim and other local birders have visited the park a few times this winter and reported on eBird that there are Greater Scaup. There is a short 0.75 mile trail around the lake with some woodlands. \nCurrently\, Google Maps shows the entrance and small parking area are on Bass Pro Court. If there is not enough parking available in the park\, there may be ample parking on the street.

SUMMARY:March General Meeting: Secret Life of Whimbrels\, presented by Sam Wolfe
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, March 13\, 2026\, for our General Meeting. Tonight’s program will be The Secret Life of Whimbrels\, presented by Sam Wolfe\, a shorebird biologist with Manomet Conservation Sciences. In this presentation\, we will learn about the spectacular migration of Whimbrels. We will have the opportunity to see the little-known & remote places Whimbrels venture throughout the year\, including a stopover site in Texas that supports more than 25% of the population. \nSam has a master’s degree in range and wildlife management from Texas A&M University—Kingsville\, and lives in Rockport\, Texas. Her career has focused on understanding bird migration and habitat associations\, having worked across a variety of landscapes and geographies. \nThis will be both a live in-person meeting and streamed on Zoom. Sam hopes to be at the meeting\, but may need to join us on Zoom as well.  Click here for the on-line Zoom link. \nPlease remember to give yourself extra time to arrive as the (now 12 month!!!) road construction project might still have the entrance to the parking lot from Camp Bowie Blvd. closed. Montgomery Street is also under construction. Since I drive from downtown Ft Worth\, I take West 7th Street to get to Clifton Street and the parking lot.
