SUMMARY:Thursday\, May 7\, 2026: FWAS Big Sit! at Richland Creek WMA
DESCRIPTION:Join Ted Drozdowski and other Ft. Worth Audubon team members as we take part in this year’s 30th Annual Great Texas Birding Classic. Our count circle will be at the Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area\, about 25 miles east of Corsicana\, on the Navarro/Freestone County line. Last year\, Ted extended his invitation to more folks.  \nAs with all Big Sits\, we plan on being there from dawn to dusk\, but participants are free to come and go as they please. The group’s list of 105 species was the highest official big sit total for the interior of Texas\, ever! \nThe cost is $30.00 which includes this year’s official GTBC t-shirt. Please note\, if our dates are rained out\, the registration fee is non-refundable. You will still receive a great t-shirt. Proceeds from your registration support bird habitat and education programs in Texas. \nNOTE:  The sign-up registration for this group’s Big Sit is March 29th. Ted is scheduled to travel for the first few weeks in April\, so he wants to have his team registered before he then. Ted has also decided to handle all team member registrations with Texas Parks and Wildlife. Send your confirmation to join to Ted\, and he will send you payment details.  \nContact Ted Drozdowski at drozdovekie@sbcglobal.net\, or call (817) 908-6897.  \nParticipants will also need a ‘Limited Public Use’ permit to access the WMAs. Go online to  https://www.txfgsales.com/CustomerSearch.aspx\, enter the data\, and select the LPU Permit Item 175. the permit cost $12 a year\, and expires August 31 of each year. It is good for access to all WMAs in Texas.  \n

SUMMARY:World Migratory Bird Day celebration at Lake Lewisville Environmental Learning Area
DESCRIPTION:Friends of LLELA will again be celebrating the World Migratory Bird Day May 9th.  They are in the planning stage\, so the times might change.   \n“Every Bird Counts” is the theme.  We have secured Blackland Raptor Center to do a program with live\, educational birds.  Bird walks\, bird crafts\, bird games\, habitats\, the ideas are endless!  \nFort Worth Audubon and several other nature groups will have displays and folks there to answer questions about birds and wildlife. If you haven’t been to this great area\, the many trails are very birdy! The Painted Buntings and Indigo Buntings will be singing loudly to attract mates. Most of the trails are level\, dirt roads that take you back to hidden wooded ponds\, and shaded trails through beautiful woodlands.

SUMMARY:Ft. Worth Audubon General Meeting - Annual Members Slide Show
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Annual Members Slide Show. Many of our members are great photographers who capture birds and other wildlife during the past 12 months. They pick some favorites to share with the rest of us. This year we have already received photos and videos from several international trips\, and backyard visitors in Texas and other other U.S.  states\, so our show will be fun to see. \nIf you have photos you would like to share\, send them to Jim Jones at avianadmin@fwas.org before May 9th. Jim puts together the PowerPoint show. He will need species and location information for your photos. He does ask to keep the number of submissions under 50 photos\, but will consider more submissions if you had traveled to somewhere exotic. Share your photos and video via your Cloud storage link\, or send them via email a few at a time. \nThis meeting is also streamed live on Zoom.
