Haggerman National Wildlife Refuge, one and two day option
January 17, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Tom Haase has setup an overnight excursion for FWAS to the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. Winter birding doesn’t get much better than at Hagerman, and we’ll have guides to help us find all the good birds. There is no limit to participants, but you will need to have your own transportation there as well as hotel reservations should you choose to stay overnight. The plan is to drive up to bird in the early afternoon on the 17th, birding the main roads looking for the numerous duck species and huge flocks of geese. The next day we’ll meetup at the Hagerman visitor’s center at 8:00 a.m. with local favorite Hagerman guide Jack Chiles and Professor Wayne Meyer of Austin College, both of whom will be our guides for the day. We will likely be able to ride with them in the refuge vans, making our trip much easier for all.
RSVP and info: Though there is no limit on the number of participants for this field trip, please let Tom know if you are coming, and he can provide you with details on how to meetup that first day as well as hotel recommendations for the night of the 17th.
